Sinaproc warns of increased rainfall due to cold weather front

Sinaproc warns of increased rainfall due to cold weather front

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) issued a surveillance notice on Wednesday due to the collateral effects in Panama of a cold front over the Antilles and the Atlantic.

The entity explained that this could generate low pressure systems on the Panamanian territory, so an increase in rains and storms is expected.

The areas under warning include all the provinces and regions of the Republic of Panama.

Etesa's Hydrometeorology department indicated that an amount of water per day of 10 to 50 million is expected in mountainous areas, however these amounts could exceed.

This warning, which was issued from 03:00 am this Wednesday, runs until Saturday, April 17.

In addition, flash floods or heads are expected due to rainfall and the increased likelihood of rains and storms.

Following these warnings, Sinaproc recommends not approaching electricity poles or cables, not driving on a flooded road, and not attempting to cross a stream of water that exceeds your knees on foot.

Sinaproc will monitor nationwide, and asks residents of areas vulnerable to floods and landslides to avoid visiting streams, rivers and mountains.
