Soil studies to be completed for the extension of Metro Line 1, works could begin in July

The physical intervention for the relocation of public services for the extension project of Line 1 of the Panama Metro is expected to begin in July.
The geotechnical surveys or soil study carried out in the extension project of Metro Line 1 in Villa Zaita, has been completed. This was announced by the Metro de Panamá transportation company .

The physical intervention for the relocation of public services is expected to begin in July.

These are studies with which soil samples are obtained, which allowed the performance of tests to determine the characteristics of the soil.

According to the Panama Metro , the detailed survey of the baseline of the structural state of all the buildings that are in the direct environment of the project is currently beginning, in order to "be transparent with the owners of the structures in case of being affected by construction in the future. "

The designs of the project that will allow the start of the execution of the extension of Metro Line 1 are also developed.

The company explained that the current status of the Transistmica highway has already been surveyed, and indicated that once it is duly verified, the consortium will begin road maintenance work.

On the other hand, they announced that the topographic survey of the existing viaduct has already been carried out, in the maneuvering queue of the San Isidro station.

"These works will allow the correct and precise coupling of the current structure with the new railway extension, in addition to field work," the transportation company said.

According to the Panama Metro, these tests developed by the Panama North Line Consortium began last January and did not affect the vehicular flow in the area.

The extension of Line 1 to Villa Zaita is estimated to generate one thousand jobs during various construction phases. It is expected to benefit more than 300 million people residing in the North Panama area.
