Sucre: al terminar la cuarentena de los fines de semana se aumentarán los puestos de control y operativos en playas

Sucre: at the end of the weekend quarantine, checkpoints and operations on beaches will be increased

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced this Saturday, February 27, that when the total quarantine is lifted, the checkpoints between the provinces and the inter-institutional operations on the country's beaches will be maintained.
He said that the checkpoints through which people who move from one province to another must pass will be increased.

The head of the Ministry of Health reported that inter-institutional operations will also continue on the beaches to ensure that the behavior of the population is appropriate. He recalled that it is forbidden to sell liquor on the beaches and that crowds should be avoided. The idea is that people go to the beaches but respecting the household bubble with no more than seven people, he added.

He anticipated that people who pass through checkpoints should be swabbed, since in this way they are asymptomatic and prevent them from carrying the virus from one region to another.

Sucre stressed that with the lifting of the weekend quarantine, Health officials will have to redouble their work, especially the unified traceability teams, which should increase the number of sweeps. He expressed that it is important to strengthen epidemiological surveillance.

Sucre's statements were made during a working tour to the Azuero region. It included a visit to the unfinished Anita Moreno Regional Hospital in Los Santos, where he made a tour to verify the state of its infrastructure, which has not been delivered in its entirety.

He also met with members of the Association of Cancer Patients, Family and Friends, who are demanding an oncology ward. He told them that it is part of the government's commitment to create an Oncology Network at the national level, which would include Azuero.

In Herrera he met with Governor Víctor Roca Cuan, and with local authorities. He also participated in a swab sweep carried out in the Los Sauces neighborhood, in the village of Llano Bonito, Chitré district.
