Sucre: no mobility restriction on weekdays in Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Colón

The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Sucre clarified that in the provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Colón people can transit regularly from Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The clarification arises after Article 6 of Executive Decree No. 873, which establishes new measures for curfews in these provinces, indicates that restrictions on the mobility of people by sex and ID number remain in effect on weekdays.

Sucre admitted that it was an error in the writing of the decree and reiterated that there is only a curfew from 7:00 pm and the total weekend quarantine in these provinces from 7:00 pm on Friday until Monday 5:00 am.

There were some difficulties in drafting the decree, but the truth is that we are only implementing in Chiriquí for now total quarantine only for Saturday and Sunday. Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm people can go out as usual. If the cases continue to rise we will do the analysis and possibly implement more measures, said Sucre.

The Minsa decided to issue a total weekend quarantine in Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Colón due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. This measure also remains in force in the provinces of Panama and Panama West.
