Para el gremio, iniciar clases sin vacunar al resto de la población educativa es un riesgo

Teachers ask to vaccinate school and public transporters before starting face-to-face classes

After announcing that this Monday the vaccination against COVID-19 begins for teachers who reside in circuits 8-6, 8-10 and 8-1, the teacher leader Eddy Pinto clarified that to start face-to-face classes, educators demand that school bus drivers, public transporters and parents are vaccinated.
“Educators are not averse to the vaccine, we are waiting for it to start the school year. We ask that school transporters, parents and drivers of public transport be vaccinated, but not with AstraZeneca, so that biosecurity conditions are met,” he said.

For the union, starting classes without vaccinating the rest of the educational population, which are not only educators, is a risk.

Likewise, to return to the classrooms they ask that the cleaning and nebulization of the educational centers begin, and that administrative and cleaning personnel be appointed, who have been fired, according to the educator.

Pinto described UNICEF as an “intrusive and hyperbole international body”. He considers that the institution "makes judgments that are irrelevant regarding the issue of Health."

“We cannot allow overcrowded classrooms. There is an exodus of students from private to public schools… We are waiting for the Government to give us suitable conditions”, he concluded.

According to the Vaccination Plan of the Ministry of Health, the inoculation at this time corresponds to the population aged 16 to 59 years with chronic diseases, followed then by teachers and administrators of public and private schools and universities.

However, the National Government decided to advance the immunization of educators with the intention of starting classes in person.

The head of Epidemiology at the Minsa, Leonardo Labrador, said there is no exact date but in April the chronically ill and other groups could be vaccinated.
