The Imelcf will be able to process crime scenes with advanced technology

The director of Imelcf assured that this technology will allow experts to carry out a more effective work at crime scenes.
The director of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Panama (Imelcf), Vicente Pachar assured that the United States government donated advanced technology that will allow the experts of this entity to carry out a more expeditious work at crime scenes.

"We have received this donation from the United States Embassy, basically what it is about is a piece of equipment used by the experts who go to the crime scene when there is an investigation into homicide cases, mainly you. have seen, violence, crime is increasing and our experts are the ones who go to the scene, they are the ones who have to fix, document, investigate, collect evidence and everything that has to do with the evidence that will later be presented to the prosecutor and are incorporated into a folder," Pachar told RPC Radio.

Pachar explained that the donation is an advanced technology that will allow them to analyze fingerprints, recognize stains, photographic filters, which will guarantee the scientific study of the crime scene and documentation, in addition to complying with the principle of chain of custody.

"These are mini laboratories where the experts will have everything at their fingertips so that when the crime occurs, they immediately have in their hands the necessary tools to work the scene," explained Pachar.

The director also indicated that the entity is having a problem with an increase in cases of violent homicides and criminality, which means that experts have more jobs with the same resources.

In addition, the Imelcf morgues are also being saturated due to the increase in crime and the death of migrants who cross the country from the Darien border with Colombia.
