The National Police detains 1,613 people in five days for failing to comply with the curfew

According to the records of the National Police, 1,613 people were detained in five days this week for failing to comply with the curfew decreed by the government as a measure to control the spread of the coronavirus.
These total apprehensions were recorded in the daily reports published by the police between Tuesday, July 21 and Saturday, July 25.

The highest number occurred in the last hours when 457 arrests were reported this morning; 366 were men.

From Monday to Thursday the national curfew measure is from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am

For weekends, a total quarantine is applied between 7:00 pm on Friday until 5:00 am on Monday in the provinces of Panamá, Panamá Oeste; and as of yesterday in Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Colón.

The total quarantine on weekends in these regions was implemented due to the high rates of coronavirus infections.

Last weekend, between the night of Friday the 17th and the early hours of Monday the 20th, the Police reported the arrest of 1,300 people for violating the restrictions.

In the last report of the Ministry of Health on the advance of the virus, it was reported that since the Covid-19 pandemic the country accumulated 57,993 cases and 1,250 deaths.
