The Public Prosecutor's Office asks to call 27 people to trial for property damage in Ipacoop

The investigations showed that there was an economic damage to the State for an amount that exceeds $757 thousand, indicated the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Attorney General of Accounts asked the Court to a total of 27 people linked to an alleged injury equity in the Panamanian Autonomous Cooperative Institute (IPACOOP).

The entity details that among these people are servants and former public servants, implicated in an economic damage to the State for an amount greater than $757 thousand, and among the irregularities it mentions the appointment of people who worked simultaneously for companies private and public entities during the same period.

Likewise, the Public Prosecutor's Office indicates the appointment of administrative positions that did not justify the salaries paid; officials assigned to private cooperatives or public entities as support, loan or assignment, with salaries paid, as well as the hiring of promoters in cooperativism with salaries between $3,000.00 and $3,500.00, without having experience or related academic degrees such as they establish the applicable norms, which even did not justify the fulfillment of their tasks, for which the irregularity and consequent possible affectation of public funds was determined.

The Office of the Public Prosecutor indicates that these crimes were committed in the period from January 2, 2014 to October 31, 2018; and the executive director and the head of the institutional human resources office were linked to them.
