Venezuela lifts suspension of flights from Panama and the Dominican Republic

Venezuela lifts suspension of flights from Panama and the Dominican Republic

The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela (Inac) announced that it lifted the restrictions on flights from Panama and the Dominican Republic.
Flights were suspended since December 13, 2020 and one of the reasons that motivated the cancellation was an increase in positive cases of coronavirus (Covid-19).

Given this decision, the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), decided to suspend all operations of the Venezuelan airlines in Panama.

Venezuela and Panama have had an air frequency agreement since 2007 that allows the operation of 7 Venezuelan airlines to Panama, while Copa Airlines is the only one authorized by the Panamanian side.

A few weeks ago, the director of the AAC, Gustavo Pérez, sent a letter to the director of the Inac, where he requested information about the suspension of flights, and also made clear the position of Panama that requests equal treatment in the number of operations.

Since Panama allowed the return of operations of commercial flights in the country on October 12, Venezuelan airlines were approved 9 flights a week to Panama, but the Inac had only authorized 3 flights to Copa Airlines.
