With 701 new cases of COVID-19, Panama reaches 89,082 infections and 1,932 deaths
The number of accumulated cases of coronavirus in Panama rose to 89,082 for this Wednesday, August 26, while the number of deaths increased to 1,932.
According to the epidemiological report issued by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), today a total of 701 new infections and 13 new deaths are counted, with a fatality rate of 2.2%.
The Minsa adds that to date some 63,595 people have recovered, while 23,555 cases remain active, of which 22,017 are in home isolation, divided into 21,596 are at home and 421 in hotels, hospitals.
On the other hand, 1,538 patients are hospitalized, 1,381 of them are in the ward and 157 remain in the intensive care unit.
A total of 3,814 tests to detect COVID-19 have been carried out in the last hours, maintaining a positivity percentage of 18.4%.
