The move follows a visit by UK Foreign Office Minister for the Americas and Caribbean, David Rutley, who emphasized the importance of respecting sovereign borders and maintaining Guyana's territorial integrity.

Rutley also noted Venezuela's commitment to non-aggression and the UK's dedication to upholding Guyana's sovereignty. HMS Trent's mission reflects the vessel's role in 'defence diplomacy' initiatives.
